Sean “Diddy” Combs is scheduled to appear a US district judge in New York City this Friday for sentencing subsequent to his recent conviction on federal prostitution-related charges.

Subsequent to the extended trial that wrapped up in the month of July, panel members acquitted Combs of the gravest allegations of sex trade and racketeering conspiracy. The jury did, though, find him guilty on a pair of offenses of transporting persons for commercial sex acts.

After being cleared of those accusations, he reportedly knelt down to pray. His attorney stated that he had “regained his life back”.

Nevertheless, the convictions he did receive both carry a potential of a decade behind bars according to the Mann Act, which forbids moving across state borders to enable sex work.
Federal prosecutors characterize the behavior as grave offenses, while the defense has downplayed the accusations as “backup” allegations that never should have gone forward.

Reports suggest that Combs intends to talk personally to the court before the sentence is announced, although not testifying during the court case.
Via a motion lodged the previous week, his attorneys petitioned that he be permitted to appear in “regular clothes” at the hearing, just as he had throughout the trial when he dressed in sweaters and collared shirts.
“The sentencing proceeding carries great weight for Sean Combs,” the filing stated. “He wishes to stand before the judge, make a statement, and allocate in the most respectful and proper way attainable.”

Various punishments is on the table, as prosecutors and defense attorneys have offered suggestions based on US sentencing guidelines, while the final decision belongs to the judge.
Federal attorneys is advocating for no less than eleven years and three months behind bars – that’s 11 years and three months – labeling Combs “showing no remorse” and emphasizing coercive behavior that witnesses recounted.
His attorneys are requesting up to fourteen months, which considering time served would allow Combs to be released by the conclusion of next year. They contend that his punishment has already proven sufficient for what they claim was consensual sex with paid “entertainers”.
Sentencing officials, in the meantime, calculated that the recommended sentencing range might amount to a maximum of seven years and three months.
